What’s next for marijuana industry after recent crackdown?

The national movement to legalize marijuana took a big step forward this week – and a big step back. California became the largest state in the nation to permit recreational pot use, but on Thursday Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded Obama-era guidelines meant to limit federal prosecutions. Atlantic senior editor Derek Thompson joins “CBS This Morning: Saturday” to discuss why this situation is so confusing and what this means for business owners in the burgeoning marijuana industry.

Federal law needs to change.

PREMISE says:

"What's next for marijuana industry after recent crackdown?" There is no future for the recreational marijuana industry. I say that because it will never be legalized worldwide to disconnect recreational marijuana from the drug war.

Bob Baker must be rolling in his grave

I Own Me - You Own You says:

Seems like a good time to start using the 2nd amendment to stop any would-be enforcers of federal laws. Government overreach like this is exactly why we have the right to bear arms.

Terrell Roberson says:

Sessions needs to go to the old folks home , and let America progress…it's not 1950. 420 for life

Confusious666 says:

This proves that AG Sessions and Trump are shills and payed for by the drug cartels. They see the money the state's are making that the drug cartels are NOT…and they want to roll this back quickly to funnel the money from this crop back to the cartels. ALSO, children are allowed easier access to pot when it is illegal which is exactly what Sessions wants. Him and Trump are garbage, mafia, drug cartel shills bought and payed for. This proves it all folks. These people are absolute garbage.

forty fourounce says:

THE LAW IS BASED ON LIES HURST PUBLISHING WAS AGANST IT ALL ABOUT COMERCIAL USES 1941 FORD CAR MADE OF CANABAS FUEL 3 TIMES LIGHTER 8 TIMES STRONGER THAN STEAL MEDICAL WORKS PAPER HOMES LUMBER SESSIONS HAS TO GO IF NOT REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO SEE 67 PERCENT OF AMERICANS HAVE A CHOICE THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN SESSIONS YOU ARE A CROOK OR A FOOL PROBABLY BOTH THIS IS NOT FREEDOM A LIE

Wayne Hancock says:

I say keep pot illegal on a federal level but…..if the people want it legal then by all means capitalize on that. They will have to pay a lot for that freedom. I've see where in Colorado the good stuff is 250 or more and ounce so put federal taxes on it driving the prices up to $1000 an ounce. The people can afford that amount. Make it illegal to have your own plants unless they are heavily taxed and regulated. The government can make a ton of money off of this and rebate it back to the people of America.

T West says:

Hey Jeff, pot has many helpful uses but unfortunately correcting disfigured ears isn't one of them or your appearance wouldn't be so grotesque – enjoy your kickbacks from big pharma and the tobacco & Alcohol monopolies while it lasts, which won't be long!

Ejb954 says:

Asset Forfeiture. Sessions calling card .His motto. Good people don't smoke MJ. . Hopefully Trump will take him to the wood shed for this profanity.
